The day has come, folks! Protest the Hero has entered the studio today to begin recording their yet-to-be-titled third LP. We can only guess at the timeline for recording — they could be quick about it and finish recording/mixing in a couple months, or they could stick to their track record (see: Kezia, Fortress). In any case, we’re all very, very excited.
What will this record bring to the table? We’ve already established that it will have a more “progressive” sound to it and will have more than their typical 10 song track list, but that’s about it. I wouldn’t be surprised if we hear from them in the coming weeks. Who knows, maybe we’ll even get a couple studio videos!
In the mean time, a question for Protest the Hero fans: what do you expect out of this new album? What are your hopes and fears? Feel free to discuss in the comments below! As always, please share this with your friends and remember to follow us on Twitter and Facebook for continuous updates on the new album!

I hope that they keep that epic sound, and climactic point in all their songs, I love it. Never fails to send chills down my spine. I’m also hoping that they have a softer song or something. The acoustic and piano parts really demonstrated that they can and will write softer parts, but it’s a matter of how many they will include. Though it’s unlikely, I’d like to see a cover.
As for fears, I’m not really fearful of anything, because I know that whatever it is that they release, it’ll be of high quality and I’ll enjoy headbanging along for years to come.
Totally agree! I can’t see Protest getting rid of the ‘epic’ moments. Some softer moments throughout the music (not necessarily a full song) would be MOST welcome
I’m looking forward to the more groovey riffs I heard about. There’s one riff in the pre-production video where Luke just breaks it down and it’s fucking awesome. Can’t wait for that.
From the pre-production video they gave us, I know that they’ve still got it. With time, they’ve become better musicians (didn’t think it was possible!) and better writers. Fortress showed a jump in musical maturity and I think that this album will do the same. My only fear is that the Choadster will change his style, but I don’t consider it likely to happen. I’m behind em all the way and will make sure to get one of the first copies.
