Protest the Hero

Rody Walker - Protest the HeroProtest the Hero is a Canadian progressive metal band, hailing from the quiet suburbs of Whitby, Ontario. Forming in 1999 under an entirely different name (“Happy Go Lucky“), the band went through various musical transformations through the 2000s – from a politically-minded teenage punk band (A Calculated Use of Sound) to a monstrous progressive metal act (Fortress).

Since its infancy, the band’s lineup has remained unchanged. Crooning sweet melodies, the band’s frontman Rody Walker. Sweeping and tapping his way to guitar stardom, lead guitarist Luke Hoskin. Known mainly for his epic beard, rhythm guitarist Tim Millar. Slappin’ de bass and putting his poetic thoughts to page, bassist and lyricist Arif Mirabdolbaghi. Last but not least, hitting those drums in time signatures that would make anyone’s head spin, Moe Carlson.

Coming hot off the heels of their critically-acclaimed release Fortress (2008), Protest the Hero released their third full-length entitled Scurrilous in March 2011, much to the enjoyment of critics and fans alike.

The band will likely continue the album cycle by touring for Scurrilous through 2011 and 2012, with new material being written and eventually recorded by 2013.
