Rody – Vocals

Rody Walker - Protest the HeroRody Walker is the lead vocalist and frontman of Protest the Hero.

With a dynamic vocal range, from deep growls to high falsettos, Rody has a variety of styles in his repertoire. Not only is Rody the band’s full-time vocalist, but as frontman he also does hilarious commentary between songs (seriously, he would do well in stand-up comedy) as well as performing much of the PR duties for the band.

Cheddar Cheese and the Mouse Trap

While Protest is Rody’s full-time gig, he also has a side project dubbed Cheddar Cheese and the Mouse Trap (Rody being Cheddar Cheese). This project includes Rody on guitar, Tim Millar on keys, and Chris Wynne on drums.

Rody Walker Quotes

On touring:

…we kind of stick out like a sore thumb whatever tour we go on whether it’s because we’re heavier than the other bands or we’re not as heavy as the other bands. It’s kind of a strange little relationship we have with music.

On genres:

You put yourself in a little box when you put yourself in a genre, and you can’t write anything outside of that. We hope to constantly be writing non-linear music.

On Protest the Hero’s influences:

For me, personally, it’d probably be things like Symphony X, Ronnie James Dio, Judas Priest, Jeff Buckley, Colm Wilkinson.

On their producer, Julius “Juice” Butty:

Love the guy to death. He’s very much like father figure to us. We love his family and also he’s a very excellent singer. So for myself it helps a lot because he knows everything about harmonies, he knows everything about melodies…he’s a friend of ours…
